From October 25 to 27 professional and amateur golf players from all over the world will meet during the tenth edition of the Great Cuba Golf Tournament in the Varadero Golf Club, located in one of the most spectacular beach destinations of the planet. Sponsored by the Cuban Ministry of Tourism, F&B Palmares S.A. and Varadero Golf Club, this is an ideal opportunity to practice your good swing!
Participants must be at least 18 years’ old with a certified handicap equal to or less than 24 for men and 30 or less for ladies. Competitors will be divided in three categories playing the Medal Play and Stableford modalities. There will be a practice round and two competition rounds disputing three prizes per category and, as in the ninth edition, the Organizing Committee decision regarding awards will be definitive.
As main attributes of the Varadero Golf Club: its location in the highest spot of the Hicacos Peninsula in the San Bernardino Hill, its superb landscape and the only 18 holes’ course in Cuba, accounting for relevant international golf competitions.
Since its opening on October 26, 1999 as setting of the European PGA First Challenger Tournament Tour with the award of the Order of Merit in the classifying tour, the course has been widely recognized and visited by Cuban residents as well as foreign visitors. Walking its 6,269 linear meters between the first Tee and Green 18 becomes besides an intense competition, also an enjoyable stroll. Wide streets marked off by trees with ample and open greens blend with the narrow streets and protected greens, surrounded by water and sand traps of the “Retador” or Target golf, sharing the sea breeze and the transparence of the environment.
Famous Xanadu Mansion inside the course, offers an extraordinary view from the Mirador Bar, and the services of an international restaurant, a wine cellar and eight rooms to accommodate players who wish to stay over in this awesome spot. Those wishing to stay close to the golf course can find lodging in Sol Palmeras, Melia Varadero, Melia las Americas, Bella Costa or Tuxpan hotels, just to mention a few.
Do not miss the opportunity to share the course with more than a hundred professional players from Canada, United States, Germany, Belgium, Spain and Cuba; besides, this edition has the added energy of the twentieth anniversary of this golf course.
