Antonio Carricarte, Foreign Trade and Investment Prime Vicepresident, María Peña Matos, ICEX Spain Exports and Investment Delegate Counselor and Juan Fernández Trigo, Spain´s Ambassador to the Island, inaugurated on October 29 during FIHAV 2018, the Spanish pavilions on Spain´s National Day.
The fair closed one more year of fulfilled goals with more than 2,500 foreign executives present who, together with national institutions and companies, occupied the 25 pavilions of Expocuba Fair and Spain as main exhibitor with five of them.
Havana´s International Fair (FIHAV) is an investment and foreign trade key event. The fair consolidates as most important commercial exchange in the country and the Caribbean. It is an auspicious space for institutions fostering trade and investment and for business executives aiming to promote their products and services, identifying at the same time partners for international strategic alliances; Expocuba hosts this fair on a yearly basis.
As customary in fairs in the Island, Spain was the main exponent with 120 participants and largest exhibition area, with full presence in five of the 25 pavilions and stands located in most of the spaces spread around the fair.
ICEX Spain Exports and Investment together with Spain´s Economic and Commercial Office sponsored and coordinated the presence of Spanish business executives in the fair in its eighth consecutive year through an Official Pavilion and a series of promotional and institutional activities. Spanish entrepreneurs centered their offer in industrial products (equipment, machinery…. and construction materials, as well as companies catering to tourism including the food industry and other services. Through the Official Pavilion, ICEX acts as provider to exhibitors, strengthening at the same time the vision of the country, offering an outstanding image among other participants in the fair.
FIHAV also furnished a bridge to the III Foreign Investment Forum in order to advance specific investment interests, enabling business contacts as such.
The new portfolio of investment opportunities and an exclusive presentation of Mariel Special Development Zone Office, besides the First Russia-Latin America and the Caribbean entrepreneurial forum, are also part of other important events of FIHAV 2018, dedicated this time to the 500th anniversary of the foundation of the San Cristóbal de la Habana Villa.
